Social Studies is the study of prospectives on the topics of history, economics, and civics. Even if a person could live 500 years and witness all the changes in the world, the person's opinion is still subjective and affected by personal feelings, values, and experiences.

I think the most important part of social studies education is to learn how to be a responsible and effective citizen, and to develop personal perspectives about the on-going changing world. Social skills and current issues are also very essencial to these developing scholars.

I always try to start the lesson by asking questions or bringing up issues that they can connect with. Most young children are still learning about the world around them. It is important to help them expand their horizons. I think bringing those issues and having them become more aware can make them connected citizens. People are always learning how to get along or work with others better, regardless of age, gender, culture, or ethnicity. I want to teach my students to become good debaters, who have opinions on issues and are able to use evidence to support their view. Teaching through simulations, debates, and research, on both historical and current events, are some of the best ways to teach social studies, in my opinion.
