According to Understand Science from Berkeley, "Science is exciting, useful, ongoing, and a global human endeavor." I think it is especially important for learning to include as many senses as possible, as learning becomes much more engaging and fun when scholars get to experience them.
People tend to remember things better when they do not turn out the way they expected, and this is why experiements are very valuable in science classes. During science lessons, I also allowed students to use a variety of ways to present and explain their understanding as an accommodation to students with different abilities.
Scientists often work together, so I think it is very important for students to learn how to work and learn from each other. To better help students work together, each student had a role - facilitator, recorder, presenter, material (depending on the activitiy).
"Science is both a body of knowledge and a process. It is a process of discovery that allows us to link isolated facts into coherent and comprehensive understanding of the natural world." - undsci.berkeley.edu
