Classroom and Students

Annual Chinese New Year Gala

I initiated the idea of hosting an Annual Chinese New Year Gala my first year at Greenville. The intention behind hosting an event of this size was to introduce and open our Chinese immersion door to the community to gain understanding, unity, as well as sharing the unique opportunity we are providing our children. 2015 was our first annual gala, and we had about 100 audiences, and we received fabulous feedback from the community and families in the immersion program. Being able to invite professional performers as well as showcasing what our students have learned was a great way to promote the program. The second year, 2016, we had about 200 audiences, and we are in the process of preparing for this year's event!

2nd Grade Chinese Immersion

I am going into my third year as a full time 2nd Grade Chinese immersion classroom teacher. Incorporating appropriate use of technology and gamification into my classroom for different purposes is something I enjoy doing. I utilize a google classroom as a place for my parents and students to have access to different online learning resources.

Every year, during Chinese New Year, I am also in charge of putting together a big celebration for all families in the Greenville community to get a taste of the Chinese culture as well as show casing students achievement. During this process, I enjoyed spending extra time editing videos and design posters, program, and t-shirts for the event.
